K2 Clean up Expedition 2004

The Mountain and Glacier Protection Organization (MGPO) sponsored by UCH Power, launched a clean up expedition of K2 in collaboration with a Korean team. The MGPO team consisted of five members with Mr. Karim Hayat leading the MGPO team. The Korean team comprised of nine members with Mr. Han as the leader of the expedition.150 porters were utilized to bring back the waste from K2 and its base camp. The joint MGPO-Korea "Clean-up K2 Mission" was successful in bringing back 1800kgs of mixed waste which included ropes, oxygen cylinders, gas stoves, glass bottles, cans, plastics and other items of non-degradable variety.
