Community Physical Infrastructure Project Chakothi AJK

Village
Chakothi
Location
58km from Muzaffarabad AJ&K
Population
3000
Altitude
3600 ft

The 2005 earthquake in Pakistan destroyed all existing physical infrastructure in Chakothi and reduced the community to a common minimum level of survival. Stand alone infrastructure did not seem to be the answer to the mounting needs of this remote picturesque valley. Chakothi is a border town situated along the line of control with India. It serves as a transit point for travel between the inhabitants of AJ&K and Occupied Kashmir. This to and fro traffic of human activity requires essential and functional physical infrastructure to meet the demands of this transit tourist village. MGPO designed an integrated area uplift program encompassing multiple interventions utilizing a holistic approach to address the needs of the community.
